LAND ROUTE
Departing from Salvador by BR-101, the distance to Ilhéus is 460 km. Crossing Todos os SantosBay by ferry boat, the distance to Ilhéus is 310 km. The BR-101 is the main access to Itabuna, continuing along BR-415 to Ilhéus. For those who come from Salvador, Valença, Camamu or Itacaré, BA-001 is an alternative access. Access by highway BA-001, road connecting Ilhéus to Itacaré, takes approximately 50 minutes.

Opened in 1919 by two Italians, the bar gained fame as it was setting of the Gabriela Clove and Cinnamon novel by the Bahian writer, Jorge Amado.
The old cabaret and casino was frequented by the cocoa elite and worked until the 1940s. Today, the place has been restored and functions as a restaurant, on its menu typical regional ingredients. The space also has a taproom, cigar shop and halls for exhibitions and shows.
The former residence of the Amado is worth a visit. It was at the place where Jorge Amado began his first writings. In 1997, the house was renovated and the Casa de Cultura Jorge Amado was opened.
The house that was built in 1922, today operates Freemasonry is open to the public and brings records of the daily life of its owner, Colonel Misael Tavares, who was one of the richest men in Bahia.
Built in neoclassical style in 1907, the palace houses the City Hall of Ilhéus and is one of the most beautiful constructions of the interior of the state.
